John Howkins has been a senior executive in several TV, film and online media companies and advised major corporations and regulatory organisations in Europe, US, Asia and Africa.
Recent projects include financing and distribution in Europe, new studio facilities in China and the USA, and a national training programme.
John was a director of Equator plc and a leading British production and distribution company, HandMade plc. He is a director of Hotbed Media Ltd. He was Chairman of Tornado, a pioneering webcasting and streaming company.
He was Chief European Advisor to Home Box Office and Time Warner International for 15 years, advising on business strategy, regulations and technology.
He was closely involved in the setting up of Britain’s last two major terrestrial channels. He was the founder of the TV4 Group that led to Channel 4. He was the project manager, representing Time Warner, for Channel five.
He is Deputy Chair of the British Screen Advisory Council and a former Chairman of the London Film School.
He is a member of BAFTA.
